The name NOVA is inspired by the star, which means to experience a sudden increase in brightness before slowly returning back to its original state. We want our magazine to shine and make an impact, but we also want longevity. We want the stories we tell to have a lasting impact and lead our readers to have wider conversations about aspects of themselves that were insecurities or hidden away.

 

When we started working on this magazine, we always knew we were creating something centered around those who feel underrepresented. In the survey NOVA conducted in November 2022, we acknowledged there was an overwhelming feeling of dissatisfaction when our readers picked up other beauty magazines. They didn’t see themselves reflected in the articles written or pictures taken. NOVA thrives on creativity, uplifting and bringing unique stories to our readers - and we do just that. Across this issue, we delve into diverse themes, from hair, to scars and PCOS.
